If you are following my channel (@stylehighness) on Instagram, you already know that i went to Sri Lanka, a beautiful island nation in Indian Ocean & spent my time in capital city, Colombo exploring beautiful temples, wonderful sandy beaches and fine dining restaurants with amazing views while hotel hopping.
My stay at Colombo got even more pleasurable when i got the chance to visit Movenpick Hotel and spend the last 2 days of my trip here. I checked in on 21st Jan around 4 pm. The check-in was smooth and i was then escorted to my Deluxe Ocean view room.
The first thing i noticed once i entered my room was amazing panoramic views of the city & ocean, which can be gazed upon through floor-to-ceiling picture windows in the bedroom or whilst taking hot tub bath. The rooms have plush king-sized beds, big cable TVs, a spacious work desk and an en-suite bathroom with twin sinks and walk-in showers and freestanding tub. In short, contemporary design, beautiful vistas, modern interiors and spaciousness of the rooms had already won my heart. I was excited for what’s ahead and awaiting me in the rest of the trip
After relaxing in my room for sometime i was feeling hungry and ready to head for dinner.
It’s was time to experience gastronomic nirvana & celebrate variety and flavors at The Robata Grill and Lounge at @movenpickcmb. Put simply, Robata means ‘Fireside cooking’ which results in delicious flavor. They have introduced seven flavors of Asia including Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Singaporean, Korean and Thai. From delicate Cantonese and fiery Szechuan delights to top quality sushi, they have it all!
I had an amazing time dining here & would definitely recommend you all to check out this place.
My favorite and some must try dishes are:
Chiang mai salad, Laksa, Dragon roll, Nasi goreng, Panang curry ¶ Desserts- Crispy sweet wantons & Coconut cream brulee.
It was time to call it a day and take a good sleep
Day 2: Woke up at 6 am and went straight to the rooftop to see the sunrise. They say you’re only swim away from a good mood, so i jumped into the pool for a quick dip and admired the unrivaled views of blue sapphire waters. The ocean and city view from rooftop infinity pool were absolutely breathtaking, now that i was watching from the 24th floor of the hotel.
8:00 am – and it was now time to take a quick hot tub bath and the head for the breakfast.
The breakfast was served at AYU ( meaning ‘Life’) their All Day Dining restaurant which was inspired by the contemporary urban grocery stores, exuding a casual and fun dining atmosphere. It served the best local and international cuisine offering a buffet style, a Grab n’ Go breakfast option and also themed cultural nights.
After enjoying the sumptuous breakfast i then went out for sightseeing and came back late afternoon to enjoy sunset while sipping the shakes, mocktails & cocktails at VISTAS on the rooftop. This place gets crowded in late evening with many people coming in groups to enjoy the drinks.
For dinner i again went at AYU. Continental, Sri Lankan, Japanese, Chinese, Indian – they had a lot of variety and some mouth-watering desserts. I relished and savoured some amazing local and international cuisines. The food here was at par with the other 5 star hotels in Colombo.
Had an amazing time at this hotel and would definitely recommend everyone to consider this place on their visit to Colombo.
