Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016 : Grand Finale

A whimsical world of fantasies, silhouttes straight from fairy tales and style gurus coming together – Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016(AIFW) laid out bold, edgy, innovative style statements as designers rolled out varied styles. It was a starry-eyed surprise. The Grand Finale of the five day long fashion Amazon India Fashion Week culminated with a spectacular show put together by 16 of India’s most celebrated designers.

Curated on the theme of ‘Born in Benaras’, all designers presented their interpretations in Benarasi weave; showcasing the weave’s journey from being used only in traditional wear to now finding a place in contemporary fashion.

The designers – Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Namrata Joshipura, Ashish N Soni, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Abhishek Gupta, Gauri and Nainika, Alpana and Neeraj, Abraham and Thakore, Anupamaa Dayal, Malini Ramani, ATSU, Arjun Saluja, Manish Arora, JJ Vallaya, Sabyasachi and Tarun Tahilian, created mesmerising designs in Banarasi weave using a wide palette of colors like black, gold, red and blue; presenting the weave in creative and modern interpretations.

The rich assortment of creativity and ideas in colourful threads started with a western collection in more of black and golden tones. The show was a visual delight and the designers made it even more delightful with their striking array of designs representing western, fusion and Indian.

The final show was held at NSIC Grounds, Okhla on Sunday, 11th October 2015 and was also streamed live on the Amazon India Fashion Week page, which gave an opportunity to people across India to watch the show and participate in the celebration!
